ASUS XG Core pairs RX 9060 XT LP with a 40Gbps USB4 link

ASUS announced the XG Core Radeon RX 9060 XT LP 16GB GDDR6 in Taipei on November 6, 2026, a 144-by-117-by-39mm USB4 external graphics dock for laptops and handhelds.

144 by 117 by 39 millimeters is the enclosure dimension ASUS prints on the XG Core Radeon RX 9060 XT LP 16GB GDDR6. That number does not prove the device fits in a laptop bag, because the document states no weight, no power-adapter connector, and no TDP figure for the LP-suffixed die.

The 40Gbps USB4 ceiling is the binding constraint here. A discrete GPU on RDNA 4 with 16GB of GDDR6 is only as fast as the link feeding it, and the document does not quantify the delta between USB4 and Thunderbolt 3 throughput. The buyer who pairs this with a ROG Ally X or ROG Xbox Ally X is trading PCIe lane bandwidth for a cable. ASUS names ComfyUI, LM Studio, and Ollama as supported AI workloads, but no inference throughput or frame-rate figure appears anywhere in the release.

No price, no ship date, no wattage, no benchmark. The release is a connectivity spec, not a performance spec.

The 40Gbps USB4 link is the ceiling, not the GPU, and the document gives no figure showing how much of the RDNA 4 die's throughput survives that bottleneck. The buyer is constrained by the cable, not the silicon, and no TDP or benchmark number exists to argue otherwise.

No TDP, no price, no ship date, no power-adapter specification, and no benchmark or frame-rate figure appear in the release.

A discrete RDNA 4 die with 16GB GDDR6 is gated by a 40Gbps USB4 or Thunderbolt 3 link rather than a PCIe x16 slot. Without a TDP figure or a throughput benchmark, the LP suffix is a marketing label, not a measured power envelope.
