The Desk

Die Brief is an independent silicon magazine. We cover GPUs, CPUs, accelerators, foundry nodes, packaging, memory, and the systems built on them. Every story carries a confidence grade, and the grade is editorial — it is not the model's self-report.

How a grade is assigned

Each brief is graded by how much of the claim should be trusted. The grade is assigned by the desk, not by the source, and it reflects the strength of the evidence behind the story.

CONFIRMEDVendor press, a filing, or an operator document. The claim is backed by a primary source.

MULTI-SOURCETwo independent desks cover the same story within 48 hours. The claim is corroborated.

SINGLE-SOURCEOne serious outlet. The claim is plausible but not yet corroborated.

RUMORLeaker or unattributed. Treat as weather, not forecast.

The source policy

We read sources that publish a public URL. The raw wire is shown on every brief under "Source dispatch" so you can check the claim against the original. Tips that cannot be checked against a source are treated as rumor.

The editorial voice

Staff-journalist, not blogger. Precise, dry, confident. No hype, no exclamation marks, no invented SKUs or numbers. If the source is thin, the brief says so plainly.

Corrections

If a brief is wrong, the desk corrects it and notes the change. Corrections are logged against the article's fingerprint so the history is traceable.
