According to Wccftech, a Reddit user (u/UzbekUnknown) has managed to run NVIDIA's DLSS 5 neural rendering on Intel's Arc 140V without CUDA. The feat follows a rapid sequence: older NVIDIA RTX GPUs, then AMD RX 9000 series, and now Intel integrated graphics.
The mechanism is a rebuilt neural rendering pipeline for Intel's XMX (Xe Matrix eXtensions) units, which are the matrix-compute blocks in Intel's Xe architecture. The modder ported the DLSS 5 NR pipeline to run on XMX rather than NVIDIA's CUDA cores.
What changed is the demonstration that DLSS 5 neural rendering is not locked to NVIDIA hardware. The modder community went from enabling it on older RTX GPUs to AMD RX 9000 to Intel in just a few weeks, which is a fast porting pace.
