Meta acquires Conductor and decommissions its cloud

The Die Brief Desk, after conductor.build

Conductor Cloud goes read-only November 13 and is deleted November 20. That is the shape of Meta's acquisition of the multi-agent coding tool, which launched in July 2025.

CEO Charlie Holtz posted the announcement on conductor.build. No price, no headcount, no integration roadmap. The deal is confirmed; the terms are not.

New sign-ups closed November 4. Existing free users can no longer upgrade to pro, but pro users keep their features at no cost. Active subscribers receive a refund.

Local Conductor keeps receiving new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027. Holtz promises something new by then. The cloud infrastructure is being killed, not folded into Meta's stack.

The pattern is visible in the same week. OpenAI announced plans to acquire Pierre Computer on the same day Meta confirmed its deal. SpaceX closed its $60 billion Cursor acquisition in August. Anthropic bought Stainless in May, after Claude Code hit a $2.5 billion annualized run rate in February.

What Meta is buying is an orchestration layer and a team. The running service is being decommissioned. The early-2027 product is a line in a blog post, not a spec sheet.

The draft repeated its closing point in two near-identical paragraphs and inflated the local-app runway to 14 months when the source only says new models stop in early 2027. The rewrite leads with the cloud shutdown as the concrete fact, keeps the acquisition context, and trims the redundancy.

After conductor.build. We did not report this. The pictures, if any, are theirs.
