Altera Agilex 27 adds 800GbE and 1.6TbE to Agilex 2X in October 2026
Altera introduced Agilex 27 on October 28, 2026, as the first Agilex 2X platform with hardened 800GbE and 1.6TbE Ethernet.

| Agilex 27 | |
|---|---|
| Ethernet | 800GbE and 1.6TbE |
| PCIe | 6.0 and 7.0 |
| Transceivers | up to 256Gbps |
| Memory | DDR5, LPDDR4, LPDDR5X, LPDDR6 |
| Arm cores | Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 |
| HyperFlex | 1.8X over Agilex 7 |
| Samples | second half of 2027 |
The chip's headline is a network path, not a measured one. HyperFlow is a full-chip distributed data network that Altera says can move data at multi-terabit-per-second rates without using the soft fabric.

A 1.6TbE port can enter through hardened I/O, while the soft logic handles processing. The package also lists PCIe 6.0 and 7.0, transceivers up to 256Gbps, and DDR5, LPDDR4, LPDDR5X, and LPDDR6 memory controllers.
The performance-per-watt claim is relative. Agilex 27 is said to be 1.8 times better than Agilex 7, yet a board designer still needs a wattage figure before deciding how much headroom remains at 1.6TbE.

Engineering samples are expected in the second half of 2027. Price, production date, system power, die size, logic cell count, and SKU remain unmeasured.
The announcement is real, but the missing power and price details keep it a spec sheet rather than a buyer's answer.
