SK hynix HBM4 backend equipment slips toward 2027
The change is timing, not yield, as some SK hynix HBM4 backend equipment planned for the second half of 2026 may move into 2027, and follow-up orders remain unconfirmed.

| SK hynix HBM4 | |
|---|---|
| generation | 6th-generation |
| sample stack | 16-layer |
| Yongin initial process | 10nm-class (1c) |
| original equipment window | second half of 2026 |
| reported slip | 2027 |
The pause points to capital allocation, not chip design. Rising general-purpose DRAM prices and a Yongin Y1 cleanroom that will first take DRAM equipment leave the HBM4 backend line as the constrained party.
The actual backend yield, defect rate, die spacing, MUF viscosity, and customer acceptance of the 16-layer samples remain unmeasured. No document gives an exact equipment model, order value, revised delivery date, or customer name.
A capacity-utilization figure or a named order date would sharpen the record. Until then, the slip stays a schedule variable, not a technical failure.
The constrained party is the HBM4 backend line, while the document does not prove a technical failure.
After @zephyr_z9. We did not report this. The pictures, if any, are theirs.
