Apple doubles its 2027 MacBook Neo forecast to 16 million

The Die Brief Desk, after digitimes.com

Sixteen million MacBook Neo units is the 2027 shipment target Apple has given component suppliers, roughly double the nearly 8 million planned for 2026, per Aaron Lee at Digitimes.

The original Neo hit shelves in March 2026, so 2027 picks up January and February. Two slow months do not explain an 8-million-unit jump.

The remainder is a volume bet on the Neo line at its 8,990-kr entry point. For panel and packaging suppliers, the forecast locks orders before any bill of materials goes public.

Mark Gurman has the Neo 2 slated for early 2027, but the supplier-facing number carries no BOM, no price, and no silicon name.

The 16 million constrains the fab floor. It does not tell a buyer what the successor looks like, costs, or runs on.

The draft repeated the 'no document names the chip' point three times and opened with the same supplier-forecast structure as the lede. The rewrite leads with the number as a standalone subject, front-loads the 2026 contrast, and collapses the redundant absence-of-BOM paragraphs into two distinct beats: what the number does for suppliers and what it does not do for buyers.
