Wednesday's Apple event is a touch-screen MacBook Pro, Gurman says
Apple's Pro and tell gathering is Wednesday, October 28, at 10 a.m. Pacific in Los Angeles. Gurman says the headline machines are 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with a touch OLED screen, still on M5 Pro and M5 Max.

The invite is the part with Apple's name on it. Greg Joswiak posted it on October 19: "Can't wait to pro and tell next week." 9to5Mac and MacRumors put the gathering on Wednesday, October 28, at 10 a.m. Pacific, in Los Angeles. It is an in-person experience for the press, the second of the month after Welcome home on October 13. The invite does not name a product.
Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter, dated October 25, fills in the list. MacRumors says he expects 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with touch-enabled OLED displays to be unveiled that Wednesday. People in the room would get hands-on time after a press release. He says the machines look similar to the current models, weigh less, and replace the notch with a Dynamic Island. The chips are the M5 Pro and M5 Max Apple released in March.

The price is a range, not a sticker. MacRumors puts today's mini-LED M5 Pro and M5 Max models at $2,499 for the 14-inch and $2,999 for the 16-inch. Gurman says the OLED versions could start as much as $500 higher. He does not print the new price.
He calls the touch layer macOS Golden Gate, and describes a dynamic interface. The system would remember whether the last input was a finger or the trackpad, and show controls for that. A tap on a button could open a menu around the finger. The Dock and the menu bar would be redrawn for touch. Touch would sit beside the keyboard and the trackpad, not replace them.

The mini-LED MacBook Pros stay in the lineup for now. Gurman says they are eventually discontinued. That is his line, not a date from Apple.

The same Wednesday, in the same newsletter as MacRumors reads it, also brings an iMac and an entry 14-inch MacBook Pro. The reported change on both is the M6. MacRumors says that chip debuted in the Mac mini in August. No new design is rumored for either machine.
An OLED iPad mini was on Gurman's list when the invite went out. 9to5Mac, citing him on October 19, adds a new speaker system and a FaceTime camera that has moved. Today's MacRumors write-up of the newsletter does not repeat the iPad mini.

A store date is older, and it is still a maybe. MacRumors, on October 19, said Gurman had the OLED MacBook Pro and the other machines possibly reaching stores on Friday, November 6. Apple has not printed a ship date.
Die Brief filed the chip point on October 17: the touch models were already reported on M5 Pro and M5 Max. Today's newsletter repeats that and adds the day on the invite, the touch behavior, and the price range.
The day, the hour, and the city are on Apple's invite. The touch screen, the chips, and the price range are still Gurman's list.
