MacRumors filed the iOS 27.2 release candidate on October 19, 2026, one week after Apple pushed the fourth iOS 27.2 beta to the developer channel. The RC is pulled by registered developers through Settings > General > Software Update under the iOS 27 developer beta option. Apple seeded the iPadOS 27.2 RC in the same window, and the page notes that with the RC out, the update could reach public release as early as the following week.

The page lists what the RC carries: Siri AI expands to five new languages, the Apple TV app gains profiles, Call Context adds anniversary alerts, Apple Music gets a new icon, and the EU App Tracking Transparency prompt gets an expanded alternative. The iOS 27 Health app that appeared in earlier betas was removed from this build and deferred to a later update, a pattern that suggests Apple is still trimming scope before the public drop. Apple had previously said the Siri AI language additions would arrive in October, which MacRumors reads as a signal that the public launch lands before month-end.

The MacRumors page does not mention a HomePod Lock Controls setting. The claim that iOS 27.2 disables top-cap touch controls on HomePod traces to leaker pdfu, cited by 9to5Mac, and appears nowhere in the RC document that MacRumors filed. A setting that does not surface in a seeded build is not a confirmed feature, and the desk treats it as unverified until Apple ships it in a public update.

The desk's read: the HomePod setting is a rumor riding on the back of a confirmed RC, and the two should not be conflated in a buyer's decision. The person who bought a HomePod or HomePod mini to silence accidental top-cap taps cannot plan around a toggle that no shipped or seeded build has shown. The RC confirms the update is real and near public release; it does not confirm the HomePod change. What the table proves is the scope of the Siri language expansion and the Health app deferral. What it does not prove is whether the HomePod setting exists in any form inside the RC binary.

The page states no public release date, no build number, no download size, and no supported iPhone model list. MacRumors expects a public launch before the end of October, but that expectation is the desk's inference from Apple's earlier statement, not a figure in the document. The Health app removal is the one concrete signal that Apple is still cutting features between beta and RC, and the HomePod setting may be next.

The HomePod Lock Controls setting is not in the MacRumors RC document and traces to a leaker, not a shipped build. The Health app removal between beta and RC is the pattern that matters: Apple is still trimming scope, and the HomePod setting may be next.

The document states no public release date, no build number, no download size, and no supported iPhone model list.

The RC confirms the update is near public release but does not confirm the HomePod top-cap toggle. The Health app deferral is the only concrete evidence of scope reduction between beta and RC, and it sets the precedent for further cuts before the public drop.

After @itspdfu. We did not report this. The pictures, if any, are theirs. Also filed by AppleInsider, 9to5Mac.
