Older HomePods are out of the four-speaker surround path in the seeded tvOS 27.2 RC report.

Only the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K can drive the mode. The speakers must be HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod in matching pairs.
Original HomePod and original HomePod mini cannot join the grouping. The report places HomePod mini 2 on October 30 and the box on November 13.
