PS6 memory cost claim jumps past $680
The bill of materials is already near $1,000, and the memory line alone now exceeds a PlayStation 5's retail price.

| PlayStation 6 | |
|---|---|
| RAM+NAND cost | over $680 |
| BOM | almost $1,000 |
| CPU cores | 7-8x Zen 6c + 2x Zen 6 LP |
| GPU compute units | 52-54 CUs |
| Process | TSMC 3nm |
| Memory bus | 160-bit |
| Memory type | GDDR7 |
| Memory capacity | To be Confirmed (Up to 40GB) |
The cost claim puts RAM and NAND above $680. That figure leaves out the CPU, GPU, and the rest of the hardware.
The memory line is the pressure point, not the final console price. DRAM and NAND still need to be weighed against the CPU and GPU block.
Sony can subsidize the console, but a near-$1,000 bill of materials makes a low-cost PS6 unlikely. The document does not settle the final memory capacity or retail price.
It also leaves open whether memory prices fall before release or whether Sony accepts a larger subsidy.
The cost pressure is real, but the final price and memory capacity remain unconfirmed.
