AMD Sound Wave becomes a 2027 Surface entry APU
The 12-inch Surface plan gives AMD Sound Wave a 2027 entry slot.

| AMD Sound Wave | |
|---|---|
| CPU cores | 6 |
| Performance cores | 2 |
| Efficiency cores | 4 |
| GPU | RDNA-3.5-class, 4 CUs |
| Process | TSMC 3-nm |
| Power | 5 to 10 watts |
| Surface introduction | Q2 2027 |
| Windows 365 Link mass production | Q3 2027 |
DigiTimes supply-chain reporting ties the chip to 12-inch Surface laptops in Q2 2027 and Windows 365 Link in Q3 2027.
The 5 to 10 W envelope is the clearest signal that the chip is aimed at an entry APU, not a direct Qualcomm replacement.
The six-core layout has two performance cores and four efficiency cores, with an RDNA-3.5-class GPU carrying four compute units.
TSMC 3-nm is reported, but the document does not give yield, cost, thermal headroom, or measured CPU or GPU performance.
Microsoft gains a lower-cost Arm option, while AMD gets a second shot at Windows on Arm after the canceled K12 line.
No price, memory, storage, battery, die size, or exact launch date beyond Q2 2027 and Q3 2027 is in the document.
The entry-line framing is the change, and the rest stays in the rumor column.
After @hkepcmedia. We did not report this. The pictures, if any, are theirs.
