Anthropic's revenue growth slows before the November IPO
Slower growth is the change, with Anthropic's third-quarter revenue at $16.8 billion and an 11 percent adjusted margin for the year through Q3 ahead of the planned November IPO.

| Anthropic | |
|---|---|
| Q3 revenue | $16.8 billion |
| Adjusted operating margin | 11 percent |
| Revenue per compute dollar | $1.70 |
| Distillation revenue share | 5 to 7 percent |
| Private valuation | $965 billion |
| IPO timing | November before Thanksgiving |
| July annualized revenue rate | $65 billion |
| Expected IPO valuation | under $1.5 trillion |
The second-quarter jump had been larger, with revenue up more than 140 percent from the first quarter. The third-quarter rise was about 45 percent, and the total is more than 3.6 times the 2025 annual revenue.
The margin is a compute-recovery signal. In the third quarter, every dollar spent on compute brought back $1.70 in revenue, and the company is cash-flow positive.
Distillation is the fragile slice. Anthropic estimates five to 7 percent of revenue from that practice, and it told investors the slice will likely fall now that countermeasures are in place.
The missing outlook is the constraint. The document does not include a full-year outlook, the September annualized revenue rate, or Anthropic's own disclosure.
Investors are left with the margin line and the revenue line. The November IPO will put investor appetite for the AI boom to the test.
The margin is a compute-recovery signal, not proof that Claude's token economics are stable.
After @arakharazian. We did not report this. The pictures, if any, are theirs.
